'Horrible nightmare': 14-year-old killed while playing video games in bedroom

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO — Public outrage is boiling over after a horrific act of street violence ripped a promising young life from the sanctity of his own home. Du’wan Morgan, a 14-year-old high school freshman with a bright future, was senselessly executed by a stray bullet as he sat in his bedroom, simply playing video games.

This despicable tragedy occurred Wednesday evening on Hobkirk Drive in Glasgow Village, when a petty argument between rival groups of teenagers exploded into a devastating gunfight.

A FAMILY’S NIGHTMARE

The victim was not on the streets. He was not involved in the feud. He was in his room, the one place every child is supposed to be safe. Two bullets—fired with reckless, criminal disregard—blasted through his window, striking and instantly killing the boy.

"He was minding his business, doing nothing," a heartbroken family member stated. "Just sitting in his room. And now he’s gone."

Du’wan was known as a quiet, sweet young man who loved nature and fishing, embodying the very promise that this ruthless violence extinguished. His mother and two brothers were home when the nightmare unfolded; while physically unharmed, the emotional wreckage is absolute.

His aunt, Erica Davis, described the family's anguish: "She hasn’t been eating. She hasn’t been sleeping. She’s completely broken. This is a horrible nightmare."

WHERE IS THE JUSTICE?

Eyewitnesses report seeing several masked teens fleeing the scene, yet police have tragically made NO ARRESTS. The lack of accountability for this monstrous act adds insult to the deepest possible injury.

This is more than a crime statistic; it is a profound moral failure. When children are slaughtered while sitting in their own bedrooms, we must demand action. The anonymous, armed thugs who turned a simple neighborhood dispute into a capital offense must be identified and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Du'wan's family is desperately pleading with the community: "My family will never be the same. We want justice for my nephew. He didn’t deserve to lose his life like this."

The community must not let this outrage stand. If you know anything about the callous criminals who stole this innocent life, speak up. Silence is complicity. Justice for Du’wan Morgan is the only acceptable outcome.
