A senseless mass shooting early Sunday morning has left four people dead and at least 20 others wounded, four of whom are fighting for their lives in critical condition.

The tragedy unfolded at Willie's Bar and Grill, a beloved community pillar in the heart of the largest Gullah community on the South Carolina coast. Witnesses inside the packed venue described sheer terror as shots began erupting "in bursts" outside. Bar owner Willie Turral recounted the scene of "screaming and panic and fear" as revelers, who were merely enjoying a high school alumni event, were suddenly running for their lives and desperately seeking shelter.

This was not a random act of violence in some distant, forgotten locale. This senseless slaughter targeted a deeply rooted cultural community, a place described on its own website as "committed to giving back, especially to our youth."

Deputies from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office arrived to find multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds, confirming the immediate and devastating scale of the attack.
